The EU AI Act Delay Gives You Time. Your Candidates Still Expect Fairness Today.

This summer the EU moved the high-risk rules of the AI Act. For AI used in recruitment, they now apply from 2 December 2027.

It is tempting to treat that as breathing room. We think it is a good moment to look at how you screen candidates right now.

Candidates already have rights today. Since 2 August 2026, people must be told when they are talking to an AI. GDPR applies in full to every part of the hiring process, from the first application to the final score.

The person applying for a job is still in the same position as before the delay. They want to know who, or what, they are talking to. They want a fair process. They want a person to make the final call.

That is how we built Kiku from day one:

  • Candidates are always told they are speaking with Sara, our AI agent.
  • Every score comes with clear reasoning, based on what the candidate actually said.
  • Sara never rejects anyone. A recruiter makes every decision, and every override is logged.
  • All data is hosted in the EU and encrypted. Each customer's data is kept separate.
  • We keep a data protection impact assessment and an AI Systems Card, so customers can see how the AI works.

December 2027 will come quickly, and recruitment AI is on the high-risk list. A tool that is already built around these rules gives you a head start, and saves you a rushed switch later.

The timeline changed. Our standard stays where it was.
